Beach Volleyball Training w/Hustle & Flow

Beach volleyball can enhance indoor volleyball skills in several ways. The sand surface requires players to develop greater balance, agility, and strength, which can translate into improved movement and stability on an indoor court. Additionally, the smaller team size in beach volleyball fosters more direct involvement in every aspect of the game, honing individual skills like setting, serving, and spiking, which can benefit indoor players' overall game awareness and versatility. Finally, the different playing conditions, such as wind and sun, can enhance adaptability and strategic thinking, contributing to a more well-rounded indoor volleyball player.

SUMMER TRYOUT INFORMATION

Why summer tryouts?

Summer tryouts help alleviate a lot of stress on players and families. With about 6 clubs in the area, limited tryout space, and a short amount of time between the end of school seasons and the beginning of club season, it’s difficult for athletes and their parents to juggle multiple tryouts over the course of (typically) one weekend.

Athletes will not have to stress about where they will play club and focus on performing their best for the end of their school season. They will have already been offered a spot on a team and can begin practicing once their school season is completed which means less time trying out, more time practicing!

Tournament registration and hotel bookings will be MUCH easier. Having our teams set by the middle of August will allow us to enter into any tournament without the threat of not getting registered in time and also make booking hotels a lot easier knowing where we’ll be playing much earlier than early November.

What are the differences between summer and fall tryouts?

Basically nothing!! The club season will start at the same time as always (early November). The biggest difference is that athletes don’t have to worry about what team they are on throughout the end of summer and during their school season because they’ll already be on a team.

What if a player is offered a spot but wants to try out at another club in the fall?

No problem! We highly encourage athletes to try out at as many clubs as possible to find the right fit for them and their families. After tryouts are complete athletes will be offered a spot on a team or put on a waitlist. At that time athletes can either accept or decline the offer. If athletes decline the offer and wish to try out at other clubs in the fall their spot WILL NOT BE HELD. It is at the club’s discretion whether to offer a waitlisted player or wait until offered players make a decision.

Do summer tryouts have the players' best interests in mind?

100% YES! If you are an athlete, think about how tired you are at the end of your school season. Most school seasons start practicing heavily in August and the season could go all the way into November. That is 4 straight months of volleyball 5 or 6 days a week! The expectation after that is to try out for a competitive travel team and perform your best? SC Elite doesn’t think that makes a lot of sense. Summer tryouts give athletes an opportunity to perform their best due to being the most recovered from playing all year. The last thing anyone wants to think is that a player wasn’t able to give 100% because they were burnt out from their school season.

Tryout Best Practices and IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Tryouts are a difficult time for clubs, coaches and families. We appreciate everyone's time and consideration to be a part of SC Elite.

If you find yourself in the "Offered" section for a team please email us at scelitevolleyball@gmail.com to accept the offer. Once we hear from all our offers we will send out the next steps.

If you find yourself on the "Waitlist" section for a team, here is what you should know;

1. We will wait until all offered players respond until we move to the waitlist.

2. Coaches create there waitlist and will fill their team on a "need" basis by position first.

3. If there are enough players on a waitlist to form a second team we may ask everyone to come back for a secondary tryout (at no additional cost) so that we can see all of those players together again to form the second team.

If your number is not in an "Offered" or "Waitlisted" section we would like you to come back to our fall tryout in early October (date and time TBD, there is no additional cost to attend the secondary tryout).

Players that do not wish to be considered for a team they are offered should IMMEDIATELY contact the club and let them know so that we can remove you from our list.

If you have received an offer and plan on trying out at other clubs at a later date that is fine but know that your position is not guaranteed at that point. We will host a secondary tryout in the fall for those who wish to be considered for a second or third team at a particular age group and those who decide to tryout at other clubs.
